The Heirs of Kharav
Hobgoblin Knight-Commander and Revenant
Ashurta was unique among her people, especially in life. Though a native of Khavor and coming from a people who held clan and tribe in high regard, she founded the Legion, an elite branch of Khavor’s fighting forces considered greater than clan or kin. She had her clan name forcibly removed from all official records, and any who wished to serve as officers in the Legion were required to do the same.
The Legion voluntarily aided Ketenal in the Colonial War before Ketenal’s offer of colonization rights to soldiers of Khavor had even been made. Unfortunately for Ashurta, she and the Legion saw their end at the Battle of Kepral’s Pass. The Battle was a massacre on both sides, stalling the war on the eastern front and eventually leading to the Second Treaty of Svartshold, and the end of the Colonial War.
Much later her grave was sought out by the Hellspawn necromancer Phrixos, later known as the Unnamed One, so that she might assist in leading his forces against the Aureans in Devora. Phrixos and his army met a similar end to the Legion at the Battle of Turner Heath, after the mounted and heavily armored knights of Charlovoir refused to enter the bog for fear of sinking into the murk. Without the support of heavy cavalry, the combined army of Ularek Hendal’kon and Phrixos were outmaneuvered by the Aureans and few escaped with their lives.
Though Phrixos and Ashurta were both slain in the battle she has since returned as a Revenant. The current whereabouts of Phrixos are unknown, but Ashurta made her way back to Kepral’s Pass where she was encountered by the party and slain by Fippy Darkpaw. Whether or not her rest is permanent is yet to be seen.
