The Heirs of Kharav
Hellspawn, or Tieflings as they call themselves, were once men of Charlovoir who were separated from the rest of human lands by the Colonial War of 55-62 AU. Human lands in Bazamor were split by the Second Treaty of Svartshold, and struggling human settlers to the west of Goblin lands were forced to turn to tribal aid during a 15 year period of colder than usual weather and extremely harsh winters. Gnoll tribes in particular took in many human members, as long as they were willing to accept the tribal practices of daemon summoning and worship.
The first Hellspawn were believed to have been born in 83 AU, and nearly all humans west of Ketenal’s lands in Bazamor were transformed by 87 AU. Hellspawn have historically been viewed with great suspicion, and many superstitions have been perpetuated about them. Tieflings can mix with all the same races humans can, though any offspring born will be Tiefling. Tieflings typically view Asmodeus as their patron, though many also revere the Gnoll patron Yeenoghu.
Tieflings are as varied as humans in height, but tend to have more slender builds. They are easily distinguished by a pair of horns emerging from their eyebrow ridges, long tails, and reddish skin hues. Their eyes are orbs of solid color, usually black, white, gold or silver, their hair is dark, usually black with an occasional tinge of blue or violet, and Tieflings from the first bloodlines will often have goat-like legs ending in split hooves. They are known among other races for being tough, sly tricksters and deceivers.
